The first peer-reviewed psychiatric assessment of
non-humans appears in the Spring 2008 issue of Journal
of Trauma and DissociationThe article, entitled
Building an Inner Sanctuary: Trauma-Induced Symptoms
in Non-Human Great Apes was written by Gay Bradshaw,
Theo Capaldo, Loren Lindner, and Gloria Grow. To request

New Sanctuary Opens (8 April, 2008)
The Oregon
Animal Sanctuary at Double Oak Farm officially
opened its doors on March 22, 2008. The Sanctuary
is dedicated to providing homes for farm and domestic
animals, and is situated just a few miles from the
Kerulos Center in the Applegate Valley of southwest
Oregon. Kerulos Executive Director Gay Bradshaw will
serve as the Sanctuary’s research director and will
conduct classes and trainings on the grounds of Double

Courses (12 April, 2008)
The Kerulos Center will be offering two courses over
the next few months, Trans-Species Psychology
I: Theory and Practice (16-19 June 2008) and
Going Home: Orca Experience from Capture, Captivity,
